Welcome to the Tunji Letter, Edition #43.

Net Profit
Net profit is the money a company has left over after all expenses have been paid. Expenses include items such as operating expenses, interest, taxes, and preferred stock dividends. Net profit is also commonly referred to as net income, net earnings, and the bottom line. Over time, a company’s net profit should be increasing. Some companies will start growth-orientated, but once a certain level of growth is obtained, that company needs to become profitable eventually. Otherwise, it is no longer a healthy investment target for investors like yourself and me.
// Walmart Investing in Cruise
Walmart, the largest grocery chain in the U.S., has invested in Cruise, a leading self-driving technology company, in its latest funding round, pushing the round to $2.75 billion. Why is Walmart investing in Cruise? Walmart is taking a smart approach in investing in a leading company that is developing technology that will change transportation regarding the way we travel and the things we need and want to be delivered, such as groceries and packages. Walmart is taking important steps now to continue to be a relevant brand.
// Credit Tip
“Use your credit card for needs first.”
It is as simple as that, but sometimes it is important to be reminded of this message. In using your credit cards for your needs and only your needs first, you are making sure that you do not go down the path of uncontrollable spending. There is nothing wrong with buying things that you want, but those things can wait. Satisfying your needs first and then buy things you want. Make sure to continue to pay your full monthly statement balance for each of your credit cards. The goal is to use credit to elevate yourself, not deflate yourself.
