Limit Order
A limit order is an order type to purchase or sell a security at a specified price or better. When you are doing a buy limit order, the order you make will only be executed at the limit price you have selected or lower. When you are doing a sell limit order, the order you make will only be executed at the limit price you have selected or higher.
Why do a limit order? The advantage of a limit order is that you can make sure you are buying or selling at the specific price you want. The disadvantage is when a security starts to experience a major uptrend or downtrend in price, which means that your limit order will likely not be executed. As a long-term investor, your entry and exit into a security does not have to be perfect because you have time on your hand, but the shorter the time frame you invest, the more important your entry and exit become.
// $ARKX
This past Tuesday, the ARK Space Exploration & Innovation ETF, ARKX, began trading. ARKX, like other ARK ETFs, is actively managed. It will invest in domestic and foreign equity securities of companies engaged in the ETF’s investment theme of space exploration and innovation. As of April 2nd, 2021, ARKX holds companies such as Trimble, Kratos Defense & Security, JD.com, and Lockheed Martin. One of the more interesting holdings of ARKX is Deere, which makes sense after later research due to its self-driving tractors navigating fields by using GPS.
Another interesting holding of ARKX is Netflix. I believe that Netflix has been included due to possibly becoming a go-to form of entertainment provided for traveling through space. On a more serious note, it may be because of the company’s heavy involvement in artificial intelligence, data science, and machine learning that may benefit space exploration. Is ARKX a good buy? You will have to determine that for yourself and if you are willing to hold on to it and consistently invest in it for at least the next 20 years.
